French author discusses his work

The Alliance Française of Kilkenny was delighted to host author Salim Bachi on Wednesday last as part of their cultural programme.

Salim spoke of his work The Silence of Mohammed and discussed its origins.

He read passages from the book in French and in English and engaged in a lively question and answer session on the book and related issues. He fielded questions on “why Muslims were so sensitive about the image of Mohammed” and how the tradition of wearing the veil for women is supposed to have come about.

He touched on some of the problems Muslims have in France and the difficulties they experienced and explored the origins of the religion.
