And now for something a little different...

For those looking for something a little different this year, there are plenty of special new shows from which to choose.

Pecha Kucha:

David O’Doherty is back (with help from some comedy friends) to present Pecha Kucha.

Devised in Japan and invented to liven up the drudgery of the classic office presentation, Pecha Kucha has become a global sensation. Join David and friends as he launches Kilkenny as the world’s 500th Pecha Kucha city. Participants have just 400 seconds to present their topic of choice. Langton’s Set Theatre at 5.30pm on Sunday.

Service with a Smile:

Ever wondered what life was like for Irish comedians before they became rich and famous and succumbed to glittering showbiz lifestyles?

Imagine Karl Spain asking you if you want fries with that, or Colin Murphy giving you detention? Well, come and hear the gory details about a time when our favourite comedians were just mere mortals – no microphones, no stages, just a polyester uniform and the minimum wage. Langton’s Set Theatre at 5.30pm on Saturday.

Standup and Answers:

Jarlath Regan presents a pub quiz like no other.

This will be a fantastic night of stand-up comedy and trivia combined, with special performances from Barry Murphy, David O’Doherty, Chris Kent, Foil Arms and Hog and not forgetting Fred Cooke’s musical round. Langton’s Set Theatre at 9.30pm on Thursday.

Catapalooza:

A BRAND-new show with the best musical comedy acts of the festival, hosted by the amazing Fred Cooke and starring rapper comedian Doc Brown and Damo from The Republic of Telly.

The Ormonde Hotel will be rockin’ with this late-night show that’s sure to be a festival highlight. This is a standing-only gig with late bar. Over-18s only. Ormonde King’s Ballroom at 11.59pm on Saturday.
