Francis Casey is a studio artist at Callans KCAT, which is documented in a film being screened on RT on February 21.

A DOCUMENTARY involving the KCAT Art and Study Centre in Callan will be shown on February 21 at 10.15pm on RTÉ One.

Living Colour is an observational documentary film exploring the world of Kilkenny Collective for Arts Talent (KCAT), the artists’ collective in Callan that focuses on the artists’ abilities instead of their special needs.

It is described as an often hilarious, intimate portrayal of charming and vibrant characters and as it takes the viewer farther into their unique world, it throws up questions about the deeply human need to make art. Living Colour is also a celebration of what it is to be human.

The film was created by Wildfire Films Production in association with RTÉ, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and Bord Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board. Following its showing in Carlow, Living Colour made its home in the Irish Film Institute for a night as part of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival and is now on the small screen for the first time.

The film was realised by extensive observation of the creative process within the KCAT studios and the work of editor Tadhg O’Sullivan, producers Adrian McCarthy and Martha O’Neill, and director Éamon Little.
