'Magical theatre' in Kilmanagh

THE Chapterhouse Theatre Company is returning to Co Kilkenny this summer with an open-air performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre, Kilmanagh on July 8 at 7.30pm.

The theatre company is also encouraging children of all ages to come along dressed as woodland fairies and elves to help make the evening especially magica.

The Shakespearean play, directed by Sid Wetherby with music by Richard Main, forms part of the UK-based theatre company’s summer tour of Ireland and Northern Ireland, in which they are presenting four plays: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, The Merchant of Venice, and Pride and Prejudice.

The performance will take place in Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre, Kilmanagh on July 8 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost f12 for adults, f9 for children, and f30 for families (two adults and two children), and are available from Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre on 087 6261134, Kilkenny Book Centre on 056 7762117, and O’Connors Shop on 056 7769240.

Grounds will open for picnics from 6pm on the evening. Those attending are asked to bring their own rugs or low-backed seating. Refreshments will be available. Ballykeeffe is on the R695 road to Kilmanagh. See www.ballykeeffe.com for more information.
