Starlight Stage Productions is returning with its presentation of The Wizard of Oz this Easter.

Having staged the show in mid-2010, the production is getting a minor re-vamp and a brand-new leading cast.

Fourteen-year-old Chloe Gahan from Mullinahone will play the leading role of Dorothy. She has attended Starlight classes in Kilkenny for four years and appeared in Back to the ’80s, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Stone – The Alice Kyteler Musical and was an understudy for role of Dorothy in the 2010 Oz production.

The colourful characters of the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion will be played by Niall O’Riordan, Pat O’Halloran and Shane O’Riordan, who have all appeared in numerous shows over past few years.

Starlight director Jason Paul Ryan will take on the multi-character roles of Professor Marvel, Gatekeeper, Oz Guide and Wizard.

The cast also sees a number of performers returning to their roles: Sharon Molloy (Wicked Witch), Amy Mulholland (Glinda), Emily Mulally Trotman (Aunt Em) and Aine Molloy (Ms Gultch).

The Wizard of Oz will be staged in the Set Theatre from April 1-3 with shows at 3pm each day. Tickets cost €10 and can be booked at www.set.ie or 056 7765133.
