400,000 of drugs seized by gardai

GARDAI seized approximately 400,000 euro worth of cannabis and amphetamines following a search of a house close to Leighlinsbridge on Saturday.
A man has been arrested and a quantity of drugs has been seized following a Garda operation in Carlow on the 28th of November 2009.
Gardai from the Organised Crime Unit and local gardai supported by the Garda National Drugs Unit searched a house near Leighlinbridge in Co. Carlow. During the course of the search gardai seized 20 kilos of what is believed to be cannabis herb and eight kilo of what is believed to be amphetamines. Subject to analysis the drugs may have a street value of up to €400,000.
A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being detained at Carlow Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drugs Trafficking Act. He can be held for up to seven days.
