FOX HUNTING is a sport that has divided communities and even families.
We would like to take a snap shot in time of local opinion on the issue.

If you believe that fox hunting should be allowed to continue in Ireland, click "Yes" on our internet poll on www.kilkennypeople.ie.

If you believe it should be banned, vote "No" on www.kilkennypeople.ie.

We will publish the results of the poll in next week's paper, so watch this space.

I find it very sad that the Irish people, who have long upheld tradition and right of individuals to choose, now appear to be attempting to ban foxhunting. What ois even sadder is that many will be voting on the basis of a Disney-type gut reaction and their choice is not informed. Would they have the same view if the hunt was chasing rats, which don't look as cute?

I agree with Alip. You wouldn't mind if we were hunting something that you didn't like! Hunting is a tradition why change it now after many years! I know hunting has been banned over here but it has not affected any one! We all still hunt the same as we did before! Just because you think that we haveto follow your rules doesn't mean we will!!

KEEP HUNTING!!!

I am sorry to report your fox hunting poll has been nobbled,Hunting sites, such as Liam,s hunting directory on line, Countryside Alliance telephone trees in fact all the hunting fraternity throughout UK have been asked to vote, so the results will be a sham, totally invalid I'm afraid. It could have been a snapshot of Irelands feelings on the subject had it been a genuine poll. yours Jennifer Cook

I am sorry to report your fox hunting poll has been nobbled, anti sites and LACS telephone trees, in fact all the anti-fraternity throughout the UK and probably PETA too will have been asked to vote, rendering your poll useless.
It could have been a snapshot of Ireland's love for hunting, if it had been a genuine poll. Yours Helen Harkness

Jennifer Im sorry if you believe you are the only person allowed to vote ??? but to get a fair result to the question then surely everyone who hears the question should have a voice to reply ?

over-sized class rooms , primary schools with shared toilets , an archaic health system , patients dying on trollies in hospital corridors , simony & nepotism rife at the highest level of government , an economy on its knees and the governments answer to criminal gangs - BAN LEGALY held handguns.
Its time to wake up and address the REAL issues. If the greens want to help any animal - then move to prohibit coniferous afforestation of heathland and blanket bog above 300 metres to preserve the Red Grouse habitat (instead of grant-aiding it)
KEEP HUNTING.

Your poll has been knobbled - allegedly - by both sides. This has become a national debate, so strong is the feeling on both sides. This could lead to civil war in these islands, between the town and the countryside. Whichever side is able to raise the most votes through lobbying, email trees, word of mouth etc deserves to win. Both sides have the same opportunity. The weaker side will be the one that complains the most loudly. Let battle begin. Tally Ho!

After the British Government wasted over 700hrs debating th hunting issue we find ourselves in a financial crisis. Best the UK Government attended social/financial issues rather than introduce the farsical Hunting Act where we find a law which is not interpredible by most ie bad to hunt mice with dogs but rats ok, Rabbit hunting ok Hare not.

There are far more pressing issues in the world like The Congo where children are butchered, Families tortured and killed.
Yet the anti hunting lobby drag out the hunting issue again. Get a life Please

It is obvious that the article is written by an anti, Ireland should be very proud of it's hunting tradition much envied by the UK (although we might feel some of your riders are mad) The ban in England and Wales is not working and was put into law by a bunch of bigots, may your hunting continue forever.
