Kilkenny’s longest running amateur theatre company (KATS) will honour one of Ireland’s most beloved playwrights next week when Tom Murphy’s On the Outside and On the Onside is performed by its players.
In a bold change from the norm drama comes from The Ormonde Hotel as its Kilbride suite is transformed into an authentic theatre to guarantee the audience a night to remember.
These landmark one-act companion-pieces take place Outside and Inside a 1960’s Irish dancehall and with Murphy’s deep understanding of the genuine innocence and ignorance of Irishness, no stone will be left unturned.
The nostalgia will begin with director Geoff Rose’s On the Outside as his accomplished cast explore the drama that unfolded before one ever reached the dancehall. This will be followed by the directing team of Seán Gaffney and Ciarán Dunphy’s On the Inside where showband hits and comedy will try to camouflage the shattered dreams of the Irish.
The plays take place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm. To secure your ticket to this unmissable night of drama, contact the Ormonde Hotel on 056 7750200 or KATS on 087 6096897.
