The second annual Goresbridge Drama Festival will take place from November 11-13.
Hosted by the Kilcumney Players, is it part of the Drama League of Ireland one-act play festival circuit. The winners of the event held in Ionad Dara will go on to compete in the all-Ireland finals in Dublin in early December.
Eight acts from Kilkenny, Dublin, Cork, Carlow, Wicklow and Kildare will compete over the three nights.
Last year’s winners Bradán Players from Leixlip, County Kildare and second-place Carlow Little Theatre are both returning this year. Also competing are the All-Ireland winners of the Three Act Festival circuit 2011-Kilmeen Drama Group from West Cork.
Kilkenny’s New Heritage Group will perform Pictures by John Stack, performed by Paula Drohan and John Stack and directed by Brendan Corcoran.
The other competing groups are Kilmant Players from Wicklow town, Gorey Little Theatre, Camross Theatre Group from Wexford and Martello Productions from Bray, County Wicklow.
As part of offsetting the considerable costs involved in running a festival, the organisers are inviting people and organisations in the community to become “Friends of Goresbridge Drama Festival” for a contribution of €25. Sponsors will be fully acknowledged and will receive two tickets for each of the three festival nights.
Contact Mags Whitely on 086 8554128 to become a Sponsor or Friend of Goresbridge Drama Festival; and tickets for any of the three nights can be booked on 087 4129215.
