Highbank Organic Orchards in Cuffesgrange Co.Kilkenny, is opening it’s doors for a production of Oscar Wildes “The Importance Of Being Earnest”.
These are a few summers evenings that promise to be a wonderful experience. Highbank has only opened it’s doors to one other performance two years ago, Musica in Maschera, which was a mixture of Comedy, Opera and Dance. Now they have chosen one of the eternal classics.
This Highbank Production has a few little twists. Outdoors is number one and secondly, they invite you to come a little earlier to have a picnic in their grounds.
So, imagine having a picnic somewhere in the beautiful grounds of Highbank Farm, choosing your picnic areas from a choice of well, whatever take your fancy, the Apple Orchards to the Lilly Pond Lake or Highbanks Gardens or Woods. The Local Artisan Picnic, bookable with your tickets, is also available as an option. Made up of local artisan products and will be waiting for you in the grounds on the night.
Ten minutes and five minutes before the performance begins the sounding of a bell will be heard throughout the grounds to let you know that the perfomance will be taking place soon and suggesting that make your way to the cobbled coach yard, once the courtyard of the Irish patriot Henry Flood.
Once seated comfortably on a hay bale of your choice, (do bring some warm clothes or a rug), the performance of this immortal comedy will begin. Performed by the Chaotic Theatre Company, directed by Ruth Calder-Potts.
At Interval there is a choice of ice cream, coffee, tea or you’ re more than welcome to bring your own choice of tipple.
The second act will begin and the flurry of miscommunications and mistaken identities will reach it’s climax.
All in all a very pleasant way to pass an evening.
