Heritage Society enjoyed a tour of Kilkenny Castle with local historian Frank Kavanagh

HERITAGE SOCIETY-As part of the work undertaken by Conahy Heritage Society, a group of 16 adults and 6 children enjoyed a tour of Kilkenny Castle with local historian Frank Kavanagh. Frank knows more about the castle than anyone. There is more to be seen and the Society intend returning before too long. Frank reminded us that there is free admission to Kilkenny Castle the first Wednesday of every month. The group proceeded to Rothe House where Seamus Brennan gave  a guided tour and explained  the significance of the house in its time, and the library which is so valuable to anyone wanting to research. That research could be your family, house or locality. Thanks to all who participated.

HURLING-The schools hurling team bowed out of the Roinn B league when they were defeated by Mooncoin in Hugginstown on Thursday last. Conahy started the game well but were unable to break down a strong Mooncoin defence who were superb all through. In the end, the Southerners were deserving winners by 3-5 to 0-6. However, Conahy should be proud of their efforts in progressing this far in the schools league.
