REGISTRATION NIGHT FOR SUMMER CAMP-The activities for the Summer Camp are now being organised in association with Ossory Youth. This will be the sixth year for the camp which is for children who are old enough to attend national school up to 12 years and preference is given to children from the Goresbridge area. It is organised by Goresbridge Rural Development and will commence on 2nd July. There will be a trip to Lullymore again this year, it was just brilliant last year, a swimming trip to the Watershed, sports, crafts, cooking, gardening. A registration evening will be held on Wednesday June 6 at 8pm in the office of Goresbridge Rural Development, there are just 40 places so first come first served.

OFFICIAL OPENING-The official opening and blessing of the new school extension nd refurbishment at Scoil Bhride, Paulstown will take place on Friday June 8th at 11 a.m. An open invitation is extended to past pupils of the school and members of the local community.

BARROW RANGERS ON THE WEB-Barrow Rangers new club website has just been created and can now be viewed at www.barrowrangers.ie; you must enter it on the top tool bar of your computer as it will not be recognised through Google until there are enough visits to the site. If anyone has any suggestions as to how the page should be run please feel free to contact any committee member. The site will be updated weekly with match reports and photos from games. If anyone has old photos of Barrow Rangers they would be really appreciated, it is nice to see pictures of former players. You can also follow the club on their face book page.

PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK THIS WEEK-The Parish Pilgrimage to Knock will take place this Thursday May 31 at 7.15 am sharp. The cost is €18 for adults, €10 for children. If you wish to book a place contact Breda Hanlon at 059 9721443 or Ann at the Parish house at 059 9775180.

SUMMER CAMP AT APPLE TREE FARM-Apple Tree Farm, Skeoughvosteen will hold a Summer Camp from Mon – Fri on 2 to 6 of July and also 9- 13 July. The camp is aimed at children aged between 3-8 years from 9.30 to 1pm. The children will do sports, science experiments, gardening, arts, crafts, baking, feed pet animals, and have fun in camping tents and lots more. CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION-To mark the start of the Eucharistic Congress at parish level there will be a Corpus Christi Procession after 11.30 Mass in Paulstown on Sunday June 10. All communion children are invited to attend in their Communion clothes. Clubs, Organisations, Associations, Groups with their banners and all representing our community are invited to participate. All will be invited to join in the hymn singing.

LEGION OF MARY-Next weekend June 2 and 3 a member of the Legion of Mary will speak briefly to our congregations at each Mass about the work they do.

CELEBRATING OUR PARISH OLYMPIAN-An event to celebrate boxer, Darren O’ Neill being on the Irish team of athletes in the 2012 Olympic Games in London will take place on Saturday June 16 in the afternoon 2 – 5 in Paulstown Community Field. There will be field games, BBQ, a raffle and musical entertainment and the man himself will be present. Planning involves the co-operation of all the sporting clubs and other activity groups in the Parish. To cover the cost of signage, flags, bunting etc for the villages, all groups are asked to make a financial contribution. The treasurer is Frances Kelly, Kellymount, Paulstown, cheques should be made payable to Paulstown and Goresbridge Camogie club. More details to follow.

RECYCLED CONTAINER-The tidy town’s competition will be taking place in June. Goresbridge Rural Development are encouraging all the residents in the area to put out a pot of flowers, basket, window box, if you can use an unusual container which you have recycled that would even be better. The most unusual container with a plant, flowers could win a prize but that will take place later in June.

BRIDGE UNITED LOTTO €6,325-The lotto is worth €6,325 and they also have a reserve fund of €5,575.Brigid Hogan and Ella O’ Connell each won €40, Imelda O’ Neill won €20. James Barcoe won the promoter’s prize. It costs €2 to play and tickets are available in Pat Minchin’s, Blake’s, Maher’s Pub, Maher’s Spar, Pauline’s Coffee Dock, the Barrow Breeze, the Bridge Café or any committee member.

SPLIT THE POT RESULTS-Owen Doyle, Doninga won €121, Breda Behan c/o The Chemist won €20, Ian O’ Neill, Barrowmount Drive won €20. Thank you to all who play Split the Pot, it is really appreciated and the money is being spent around the village.

MEMBERSHIP TO ANGLERS ASSOCIATION-Membership to Goresbridge Anglers Association is now available. It costs €20 for adults, €25 for a family, €10 if you are under 18. If you want to purchase a day ticket it costs €10. If you wish to join up you can contact Jim Harding, Willie O’ Neill, Nicholas Murphy or Tom O’ Neill from the Anglers Association.

NEW MISSAL-Copies of the People’s Missal for Sunday’s and Holy Days are now available at a cost of €10 from the Sacristy or Parish House.

BOOK OF CONDOLENCE-A book of condolence has been opened for the recently deceased Fr. Tom McDonnell who served as Parish Priest for 4 years. It is available in Churches, Goresbridge and Paulstown.
