PILTOWN DRAW TICKETS-Michael Mahony, fundraising and sponsorship chairman with O’Loughlins, reminds us that the “Piltown Draw” tickets are on sale now and are available from any executive committee member. Costing €50 half of the money helps the Kilkenny County Board turn out all the Kilkenny teams so well each year, while the remainder of the purchase price will stay in the O’Loughlin Gaels club.

UNDER 10 TEAMS PLAYING LOTS OF GAMES-The two O’Loughlin Gaels Under 10 Go Games teams continued with their series of matches last week. Team Ban brought 25 players to Conahy on Wednesday evening and played two great games. Thanks to Conahy Gaa for the games and the use of their lovely new pitches.Best for O’Loughlins were Jake Hickey, Daniel Walsh, Damien Dowling,Jack Murphy,Stephen Power and brothers Morgan and Chase Leefarr. On Saturday Team Glas travelled to Castlecomer and played Erins Own in the magnificent Canon Kearn’s Park. The city boys won both their matches which were both very tight affairs. Best for O’Loughlins were Alex Molloy, Harry Bland, John Macnamara, Matheuz Zych, Ben Kinchella and Nick Mullins. On Sunday Team Glas played James Stephens in two games, winning one and losing the other. Brilliant passages of play were on show from both sides in the two games that took place simultaneously. Thanks to Pat O Gardy and Brian Kelly for reffing the games. O’Loughlin Gaels had fine performers in Diarmuid Henderson, Alex Lawlor, Luke Hennessy Eric Walsh and Declan Murphy who was a star in goal. Harry Bland, Ronan Lavelle, Stuart Nolan and Daniel Walsh in defense, John Macnamara and Vincent O Grady as well as Jake Hickey, Alex Molloy, Joe Leydon, Matheuz Zych and Mathew Hogan were all excellent. St. John’s Park looked absolutely fabulous on Sunday morning in the beautiful weather. Full compliments to chairman and “greenkeeper” of O’Loughlin Gaels ,Mick Nolan.

field day-On Sunday afternoon Clara Gaa club held their field day and asked O’Loughlins to bring two teams out . As DJ Cha Fitzpatrick belted out the tunes O’Loughlins and Clara played two brilliant games . O’Loughlins were successful in both matches with fabulous performances from Vincent and Harry O Grady, Sam O Connell, Declan, Daniel Walsh and Alex Molloy . In the other game Matheuz Zych and Joe Leydon did the scoring while superb goalkeeper Declan Murphy did the defending, ably helped by Stuart Nolan. Thanks to Clara Gaa for the hospitality . The drinks and crisps were really appreciated by the townies ! Next up for this brilliant bunch of hurlers is their final game in the Go Games series of matches against Thomastown on Sunday morning at 11am in St. John’s Park.

O’LOUGHLIN GAELS UNDER 10 CAMOGIE NEWS-The O’Loughlin Gaels U10 camogie team played in a camogie blitz in Gowran over the weekend. Matches were played against Young Irelands and James Stephens. O’loughlin Gaels had two teams in the blitz and each team won against James Stephens, lost to Young Irelands and drew against each other. A great team performance was put in by all the girls on both teams. Best for O’loughlins were Emma Poyntz, Kate Furlong, Brid O Keeffe. Taylor Brett and Una Galway. A great morning of camogie was had by all and a special thanks to Young Irelands for the tea, sandwiches and cakes for all the supporters.

UNDER 12S GOING WELL-Two O’Loughlin Gaels Under 12 teams played St Lachtains in the Callan Tournament and in a challenge game in Freshford on Thursday night and came away with hard earned victories in both games. Very good team performances were put in by both of these teams. Best for Team Glas were Jay Meagher and Sean Baird, both players did a lot of work and troubled the Freshford defence on numerous occasions. Best for Team Bán were Mark Twomey who was very dependable in defence and Sean Greene who did some great ground hurling work. It was great to see so many of the boy’s parents supporting the teams and again thanks for providing lifts to Freshford. Like the senior team the U12s remain unbeaten after 3 rounds of games in the Callan Tournament.

O’LOUGHLIN GAELS SUMMER CAMP-The Niall Bergin organised, O’Loughlin Gaels Summer Camp will this year take place in St. John’s Park from Tuesday August 7th to Saturday August 11th and from Monday August 13th to Friday August 17th. Price for one week is just €55 which includes a full official O’Loughlin Gaels kit as well as coaching from qualified GAA coaches and the opportunity to meet top intercounty GAA stars.
