All over-18s are invited to register to take part in a Thriller world record attempt during the two-day Thrillkenny Zombiefest.

The street festival will take place on the nights of October 27 and October 28 in Kilkenny, and festival-goers can register at Thrillkenny.com to participate in the official Kilkenny “Thrill The World” Global World Record on October 27 at 7pm at the Market Yard. Thrillkenny will provide free Thriller dance workshops from October 25-27 with the award-winning dance company Ponydance, who performed at the Kilkenny Arts Festival in 2010.

Participants are encouraged from all walks of life, and so far include 2012 hurling All-Star nominee Paul Murphy among the ranks.

Following the ‘Thrill The World’ event, Thrillkenny will have a Zombie Walk through Kieran Street. There will also be zombified street performances and zombie events in the city’s bars and nightclubs over the two nights.

“Thrill The World” is an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Every October since 2006, “Funky Zombies” across the globe have gathered to synchronise their watches and dance to the top-selling anthem.
