THE play ‘Such A Local Row’ will be staged on April 26 in the Set Theatre in aid of the Kilkenny branch of Chernobyl Children International, one of several events to mark the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

Written and directed by Jody Quirke, ‘Such A Local Row’ won ‘Best Original Writing’ at the ISDA 2011. This ‘coming of age’ story tells of four boys growing up in a rural parish in Ireland. Their cocooned world revolves around the small local hurling club and their intense rivalry with the bigger club from the neighbouring ‘town’.

The second act takes place a decade later with the boys in their early 20s. Their fortunes have changed as well as their perspectives in life. Life is suddenly far more complicated and their childhood bonds of friendship and loyalty are sorely tested.

Tickets are e10 for adults and e5 for children.
