A GRAIGNAMANAGH rock band have been making waves on the web since their recent collaboration with some young film makers in Argentina.

The band, who describe their music as ‘electronic sleaze folk,’ have enlisted the help of frequent YouTube contributor Angela Tettamnti and her South American friends to create a distinctly summery music video to help chase away the January blues.

The video is for The Freekles’ debut single, I Think That You’re a Ride, which was released on the increasingly rare format of audio cassette tape in November. Since then the song has featured on national and regional radio stations and the music video has picked up over 800 hits in the first week of its release on YouTube.

The collaboration came about as a result of emails sent between the band’s lead singer and the amateur filmmaker in late December. The Freekles’ music has also previously appeared on an episode of RTÉ’s Storyland produced by local filmmakers Thankless Films.

The band will be playing around the city and county this summer. In the meantime, their video can be viewed here.
