Fire, zombie brides and a massive Thriller dance – what more could you want for the pre-Halloween weekend? And it’s all coming to Kilkenny on Saturday and Sunday as part of the new Thrillkenny Zombiefest.
At the heart of it all, over-18s can join in the “Thrill The World” world record Thriller dance at 7pm on Saturday in the Market Yard, and the streets of Kilkenny will be alive with zombies throughout the weekend – whether they’re up on stilts, juggling knives or playing with fire. “Thrill The World” is an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Every October since 2006, Funky Zombies across the globe have gathered to synchronise their watches and dance to this greatest-selling record of all time.
Leading up to it in Kilkenny, there will be a Zombie Walk through Kieran Street. Those wanting to take part in the dance itself can register at www.thrillkenny.com.
City pubs are also getting in on the act on Saturday and Sunday nights, with everything from Zombie Karaoke in the Kilford Arms, Nightmare on John Street in Biddy Early’s, Zombie Den with Zombie Finger Food in Tynan’s and a Mad Scientist Halloween Party in The Dylan Whisky Bar on Saturday, to Zombie Movie and Brunch in Billy Byrne’s, Halloween Fancy Dress Party in Egan’s, Sunday Bloody Sunday Asylum Night in Biddy Early’s and a Devious Theatre ‘Night of the Living Dead’ screening followed by Dead Disco in Cleere’s on Sunday.
