Kilkenny-A fantastic display saw Kilkenny rout Cork in the National Hurling League Final, played at Semple Stadium, Thurles last Sunday. Great displays from both TJ Reid and Colin Fennelly, including goals from both, saw them become contenders for MOTM awards. Michael Fennelly was less lucky and had to be taken off on a stretcher with a suspected broken ankle (though this is not confirmed at time of writing). We wish Michael a speedy recovery.
U12 soccer-The boys were at home to Thomastown Utd. in the league last Saturday. The first half finished scoreless but the lads were unlucky not to have scored as John Shortall and Eoin Cody both went close. The second half started with the lads pressing for the lead goal but they were caught cold when Thomastown scored with an excellent strike. Ten minutes later the lads were level when Eoin Cody spun around his marker and fired to the corner. The lads pushed forward for the winner and were rewarded when Darragh Corcoran finished to the net for the winning goal after a scramble in the goal mouth from a corner. A feature of the game was some great passing football and great credit goes to both teams.
Credit Union-This week is national Credit Union GR8 Savers Week. Thomastown Credit Union is encouraging young Gr8 savers to open accounts (accounts opened by parents or guardians) to get children in the habit of becoming GR8 savers. Enquiries can be made at the Credit union, Market Street, Thomastown.
