Training programme to upgrade festival skills

Abhainn Rí Training is offering a new programme of courses for anyone interested developing or upgrading their festival skills.

The programme is designed to support individuals, voluntary groups and committees and is suitable for those with or without prior experience.

This inclusive cultural training includes long term and short term courses from a year-long working workshop in Design and Construction of Props, to short skills workshops in Film Making, Volunteer training, Animation, Circus Skills, Street Theatre, Tech Production skills to Web design.

The first two short courses, Volunteer training and Film making for communities will begin on July 21.

Free Volunteer training will take no more than two hours and will take place in the Friary, Green Street, Callan. The first course will begin on July 21 and will run from 11am to 1pm and the following two courses will take place on July 26, 4pm - 6pm and 7pm - 9pm and are for people aged 16 years or over.

Training will cover topics such as, responsibilities of stewards and chief marshals, what to do in the event of a medical emergency, crowd movement and how to adopt non-confrontational behaviour, the provision of first aid, basic traffic control, and general health and safety induction.
