Royal fun

IF you’re still sitting at home wondering why you didn’t get an invite to the royal nuptials across the water don’t despair.

IF you’re still sitting at home wondering why you didn’t get an invite to the royal nuptials across the water don’t despair.

As last-minute preparations get into swing across the UK for street parties heralding the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, one city venue here’s also getting in on the action.

The Club House Hotel this Friday will have guests arriving from 10.30am to enjoy a Pimms reception, or traditional tea and scones, while they watch the wedding day unfold on two screens.

At noon there’ll be a royal canape selection provided by Mis en Place catering while you sip on a glass of bubbly, before sitting to enjoy a four-course lunch fit for a King or Queen, with accompanying wines from the hotel cellar.

The menu will include some traditional favourites of Buckingham Palace mingled with some speciality local ingredients.

Amid the gorgeous Georgian surrounds of the hotel, majestic table settings await in the dining room where you can get into the spirit of the royal wedding festivities and join in the entertainment throughout the afternoon with one eye on proceedings across the water.

Prizes will be given for the best dressed and for the best hat, so dress to impress.

The event’s being run by Patricia Brennan, joint master of the Kilmoganny Hunt, and proceeds will go to the Kilmoganny Hunt Club. Tickets (50 euro) are available from the Club House Hotel on 056 7721994.
