A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Ballykeeffe

The Chapterhouse Theatre Company is bringing an open-air theatre production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Kilmanagh’s Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre on July 14 at 7.30pm as part of its summer tour of Ireland and the UK.

Promising “magical theatre in magical surroundings”, Chapterhouse “is performing some of the best-loved stories of literature. We pride ourselves on producing accessible, traditional but innovative shows that have entertained thousands of theatre-goers throughout the UK and Ireland.”

This is the troupe’s 12th season of touring open-air theatre at country houses, castles and heritage sites.

Shakespeare’s romantic comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream features flitting fairies, forest-bound lovers and raucous tradesmen. With music especially written for Shakespeare’s verse, lovely costumes and a splendid band of travelling players, it promises to be one of a fine evening entertainment.

Admission is e12 for adults, e9 for children and e38 for families (two adults and two children). Grounds will be open for picnics from 6pm on the day. Attendees are advised to bring their own rugs or low-backed seating, and refreshments will be available. Ballykeeffe is on the R695 road to Kilmanagh.
