HAPPY VALENTINE’S….TO ME…

Oh girls, you don’t know how long I have been waiting to find an excuse to use this delicious picture of Mr. Posh Spice. The timing of David Beckham’s launch of his new underwear line for H & M couldn’t have been more perfect. You poor guys are in for it this Valentine’s I’m afraid. As women bought out the entire collection in stores there may be some high expectations this year.

The timing of David Beckham’s launch of his new underwear line for H & M couldn’t have been more perfect. You poor guys are in for it this Valentine’s I’m afraid. As women bought out the entire collection in stores there may be some high expectations this year.

After years of us girls having to live up to your dreams of mirroring Ms. Bar Refaeli’s fine figure in her sexy undie campaigns it’s your turn now. How many of us will be disappointed that they don’t quite look the same on Seamus….

Sorry about the giggles guys, but oh how the tables have turned. Try going out for a slap up Valentine’s dinner with the pressure of unveiling that look! Again…sorry…must stop laughing now…

Besides gazing at the attached photo (you can download it in poster size, by the way…) what’s your idea of the perfect Valentine’s. Romantic dinner for two or hitting the cocktails with your best girls? Either way, what a great time to pick up some kooky fashion. There are lots of quirky little gifts pushed our way at this time of year..so what would you really like?

Me, I’m not that fussy. An excuse to buy a new “something” to go out would be nice. As much as I love going out for dinner I would probably be the only one consuming as my other half is not that pushed with the culinary experience. I wouldn’t mind a great gig followed by some adult banter. I’m not exactly at the “courting” stage but there is something about dressing for a date that changes the fashion perspective.

All of a sudden the skinny jeans and slouchy knit combo just doesn’t cut it. Especially, if worn with wedges or Ugg boots as apparently they are not so high on our fellas’ fashion radar! But, hey, what would they know – didn’t he fall for me when I had big hair and wore desert boots with everything..

Still, some of that cute heart logo gear is very desirable. A bit of dress up can be good for the soul. Now, the obvious one is undies, from him or from you to yourself. If you fancy a bit of nice lingerie for yourself then there’s always great offers at this time of year. Just go buy it for yourself or drop major hints … after already going in to try on what you like and tipping off the sales assistant. Leave some bras around so he at least gets the size right!

If you’re a classic kind of girl then you’ll find tons of great dresses around. If red is your colour then you’re in luck as there’s plenty to choose from. Whether you go for something fresh and wearable like this cool print stripe dress from Christian Dior or go for a stronger palette to make a statement you will find there’s something for you in your price range. I like this statement look from Next. It hits all the trends and you’ll wear it again as separates. The green lace peplum top is gorgeous but when paired with this hot red skirt the look pops to another level.

If your date is not that high brow and you are young at heart then the heart motif is for you. Wearing your heart on your sleeve is one thing but when they look this good on your legs then why not go for it. River Island have cute (but discreet) heart motif skinny jeans that will look cute through Spring and Summer.

Blouses, tops and T-shirts are all emblazoned with cute motifs to get the look. H & M have an ongoing range of heart inspired tops and frocks and you are sure to pick up this look everywhere on the high street too.

If you want to spice up your look on a budget then maybe a pair of heart patterned tights is just the trick to add some life to you little black look. Accessories is an easy way to nail the trend….eh, you could try some nail art maybe? Nail art is huge at the moment and if you are creative you can do this look yourself. If you are not so handy then all the salons have great offers on nails at the moment. Either way, this is a disposable, non-committal look…what does that say about you then?!

There are lots of great bags out there too that add nicely to the look. Whether you want to invest in (or drop a hint!) a classic Lulu Guinness Lip Clutch (you’ll find them in Coco Pink), or you could dabble with a heart print bag from Next you will find yourself pulling them out of your wardrobe to brighten your look again and again. Some kooky shoes will do the trick too. I love these Vivienne Westwood heart shoes. They are pricy but you’ll often see them on offer.

Jewellry is an easy one to sweeten your look…and would be even sweeter if he bought it! From funky heart shape rings in A-Wear to handmade rings – let’s hope he takes the hint for the couture option..

Valentines is a Tuesday night this year so most of you won’t be going mad (well, Grey’s Anatomy is on after all!), but, if it’s your first Valentines then you’ll want to make an extra effort in your honeymoon phase. And so will he hopefully….let’s hope the undies fit…him…

If you’d like some more inspiration for some Valentine’s Style (or just want a girlie afternoon) I’ll be in MacDonagh Junction this Saturday 11th February giving a free Style Session at the Style Studio from 2pm. I can’t guarantee that Beck’s will be there but we’ll have some giggles anyway!
