He’s one of the rising stars of the country music scene and this weekend comes to Kilkenny.

Derek Ryan, from Garyhill in Carlow, was born into a music-loving family and attended fleadh ceoils on a regular basis with his Dad. It wasn’t long before he began picking up prizes himself and a career in music ensued.

Aged just 17 he was signed to Warner Music London as lead singer of pop band D-Side. With them he secured several Meteor Award nominations, multi-platinum selling single Real World, numerous TV performances and music tours.

His solo work has seen him victorious in competitions penning A Song for Carlow and The International Song of Peace, while he was offered a publishing deal with well regarded DWB music in Surrey in the UK and he collaborated with writers in Britain and in the home of country music, Nashville, Tennessee.

Now with two critically acclaimed albums on release, a five-piece band and thousands of fans, Derek’s seeing his live audience building.

Catch him at the Springhill Court Hotel this Saturday where doors open from 10pm.

Tickets cost €15 per person.
