Freshford’s Colette Power is set to represent Kilkenny in the Miss Macra festival during the August bank holiday weekend.

This year’s Miss Kilkenny, Colette is a member of the Freshford group who works as a general assistant in a nursing home. Colette’s ambition in life is to sell designer handbags on the internet, and she hopes to appear as a contestant on Dragon’s Den in the future.

Colette has been a very active member of her club and County Kilkenny Macra since joining in 2008, taking on the role of club secretary, presently club PRO, competitions secretary for the county and becoming a member of the Mr Personality festival, a highlight in the annual Macra calendar.

Colette also takes part in the annual Conkers Festival held in Freshford and thinks winning Miss Macra 2012 would be an honour and something to tell the grandkids in years to come.

The Miss Macra festival will take place from August 2-5 in the Dundrum House Hotel.

This year’s Miss Macra winner will take home prizes including €1,000, the perpetual trophy, a piece of Tipperary Crystal and a specially commissioned tiara provided by Michael’s Jewellers of Thurles.
