The 21-year-old former high jumper spent three months in New York and ended up on the pages of Vogue magazine thanks to a chance encounter at the place where she was working - at a global, on-line accessories retail company.
From the Freshford Road, Kilkenny, Mary Kate was approached to model for leading shoe company, Jeffrey Campbell and ended up being chosen as the face of their new campaign. She auditioned for a modelling job with teenage clothing giant, Abercrombie and Fitch and was stunned to be called back and her photo now adorns the New York store.
Mary Kate has had a number of lucrative offers. However she returned to Ireland over the weekend to finish her degree course in communications at Dublin City University (DCU).
Mary Kate who stayed with her uncle Aidan while in New York has modelled for fashion doyen Karen Morrissey and has had a long association with the queen of style, Blanaid Hennessy. She works in her spare time at Shutterbug, Patrick Street, Kilkenny the hugely successful style company set up by Blanaid and her brother Eoin.
