Music in memory of Mahler

ON this Sunday at 4pm in Castalia Hall, Ballytobin, Callan, mezzo-soprano Bridget Knowles and pianist Malcolm Proud will perform a recital commemorating the centenary of Gustav Mahler’s death in 1911.

ON this Sunday at 4pm in Castalia Hall, Ballytobin, Callan, mezzo-soprano Bridget Knowles and pianist Malcolm Proud will perform a recital commemorating the centenary of Gustav Mahler’s death in 1911.

The programme includes the song cycle ‘Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen’ and works by Hugh Wolf, de Falla, Madeleine Dring and Henri Duparc.

Bridget Knowles has performed at international venues including the Queen Elisabeth Hall in London, the Handel Halle in Germany and at Glyndebourne Festival Opera. She leads the vocal studies programme of the Music BA in Waterford IT.

Malcolm Proud made his BBC Proms debut as harpsicord concerto soloist with Sir John Eliot Gardner and the English Baroque Soloists. He is a founder member of Camerata Kilkenny, whose latest CD of Bach’s Musical Offering has recieved critical acclaim.

Tickets to this Music in Kilkenny concert series performance are 15 euro at the door.
