Tracing her ‘heart lines’

A MEMOIR by one of the facilitators of the creative writing programme at the NUI Maynooth Kilkenny campus is being launched this Friday.

Heart Lines is the title of the new book by Suzanne Power, and its launch will take place in The Book Centre on Friday at 7pm. Performing the launch will be writer John MacKenna, also a facilitator in the creative writing programme.

“Fail better,” Samuel Beckett advised, and Suzanne Power says her failures have amounted to a 35-year career in print. She got paid first for writing when she was eight years old. Her writings have appeared in many national publications in Britain and Ireland over the past quarter century.

Heart Lines follows her through “broken and blazing love affairs, through depression, illness, motherhood, countries and conversations with many well-known figures. Her honesty has kept her following her heart, which forced her to move 70 times from the age of 17 and to set foot on every continent.”
