The final of the county fleadh cheoil will be held on the streets and in the venues of Kilkenny City this weekend in an effort form the organisers to pen up the competition to a greater viewing public.
The county fleadh cheoil is an annual event in the Comhaltas Calendar and over the fleadh week-end musicians, singers and dancers are selected to represent Kilkenny at the Leinster Fleadh Cheoil.
Since the first County Fleadh was held in 1980 various venues throughout the county have hosted the county fleadh.
Commencing on Friday night with the selection of the 2012 Fleadh Queen at the Ormonde Hotel, competitions on Saturday will also take place at the Ormonde Hotel with street session competition on the city streets from 5pm.
Then on Sunday afternoon there will be set dancing , ceili and sean nós dancing on the Parade Plaza from 2pm. There will be opportunity for all to take part in the Ceili. Over the week-end many city pubs will have traditional music available.
