Goresbridge local, Darren Donohue, will showcase his play “Tuesday Evening (Following the News)” in a production of 25 tiny plays by Fishamble: The New Play Company at the Project Arts Centre later this month.

He describes the work as ‘a great little tiny domestic drama with a twist’. A married couple struggle with the gas, the bills and the loose slates - but will they ever find the spirit that brought them together?

Darren, a native of Co. Kilkenny, is an actor and playwright. He studied Journalism at Ballyfermot and Psychology at NUI Maynooth. His first play received a Stewart Parker Award nomination and since then four more of his one act plays have been produced, with Voices in the Rubble travelling to Prague in 2005. In 2010 he was invited onto the New Playwrights Programme at The Abbey Theatre and shortlisted for a Hennessy Literary Award.

The plays will all be performed by an ensemble cast of actors, including Don Wycherley, Steve Blount, Kate Stanley Brennan, Peter Daly, Mary Murray and Robert Donnelly, who will double up in a variety of roles in all 25 plays. The production is directed by Jim Culleton, with Sabine Dargent as Designer, Paul Keogan as Lighting Designer, Niamh Lunny as Costume Designer, and Ivan Birthistle and Vincent Doherty as Sound Designers. The production opens at The Project Arts Centre on March 20.
