Kilkenny Arts Festival is looking for singers from across Ireland and the globe to take part in an exciting choral event ‘Kilkenny Arts Festival Chorus’ which will culminate in a stunning performance in the grounds of St Canice’s Cathedral.

Singers from around Ireland and across the globe are being called on to take part in this very special choral event. The week-long music project for adult singers will take place during the 2013 Arts Festival which will run from August 9-18.

Singers will gather in Kilkenny on August 12 to create this 150-strong chorus. They will live with local singers and host families while they spend a fun week rehearsing in Kilkenny.

The experience will culminate in a public performance of the iconic work Carmina Burana by Carl Orff under the direction of the renowned Irish conductor Fergus Sheil.

The choir will perform on Saturday August 17 with a professional orchestra in the stunning surroundings of the 13th century St. Canice’s Cathedral.

Kilkenny Arts Festival, which welcomes 25,000 people into the city celebrates it’s 40th anniversary festival this year.

The event is being organised in association with The Gathering Ireland.
