As it marks 25 years in business, a South Kilkenny company is continuing to grow into overseas markets desite the recession.

Located in Fiddown, Piltown, T. Butler Engineering Ltd. has announced an expansion in its business operations, particularly in emerging Near East markets, the US and Mexico.

The company, one of the world’s top three specialist wire forming machine manufacturers, made the announcement in Dusseldorf during the recent International Wire and Tube Trade Fair.

Making the announcement, Thomas and Joan Butler, managing director and financial director of T. Butler Engineering Ltd. said: “Over the past 25 years we have continued to invest in new technologies and have continued to develop new products for this specialist niche sector – with this week’s official launch of the TBE Sinubend Series of machines for the production of complex Sinuous and Square Form wires symbolising such investment. More importantly, we have continued to develop relationships with our partners and customers across global markets.”

The company has sold over 165 custom-built machines in over 20 countries, and in the past three months it has secured significant new order growth in Turkey, the US and Mexico.

Asked whether he had any advice for other Irish companies, Mr Butler said: “If you are a new or potential exporter, you should firstly contact Enterprise Ireland. Their level of support in export markets is invaluable. From Germany to Brazil, we work closely with the Enterprise Ireland advisers, whose support I couldn’t recommend highly enough.”

T. Butler Engineering Ltd. manufactures a range of innovative wire bending and forming machines. Their customers use the TBE technology to manufacture products for the automotive, agricultural, construction and medical sectors.

Enterprise Ireland has worked closely with TBE since the company started 25 years ago to access export markets all over the globe. All of the TBE product development, including machine and software design is undertaken at the company’s manufacturing facility and headquarters based in County Kilkenny.

Congratulating the TBE team at a 25-year reception, the Irish Ambassador to Germany, Dan Mulhall said: “TBE is an example of the top-quality Irish-owned companies that are vital to Ireland’s export-led economic recovery. It is an Irish manufacturing firm that, being rooted in innovation, continues to outperform international competition, continues to manufacture in Ireland and continues to provide valuable employment in County Kilkenny.”

Enterprise Ireland market adviser in Germany Nicol Hoppe added: “We are delighted to work with companies like TBE, a family-run company with traditional values, excellent engineering and a focus of putting the customer first. TBE prove that Irish companies can grow internationally and create export led jobs.”
