Maher’s Spar in Goresbridge has beaten off competition from hundreds of Irish businesses in their bid to go for gold at this year’s National Q Mark Awards.

The nomination will see owner Bridget Maher and her team donning their tuxedos and evening gowns to be photographed by the paparazzi as they walk the red carpet at this year’s star-studded Q Mark ceremony on September 28 at Dublin’s Burlington Hotel.

At the announcement of finalists at EIQA House in Dublin, the team from Maher’s was being tipped as being the hot contenders to win one of the most prestigious categories, The Q Mark Award for Hygiene and Food Safety. The award honours businesses for their achievement in being recognised as having the highest standard of hygiene and food safety in the country.

Maher’s Spar is a family-run business that employs nine people. Its focus has always been on delivering quality customer service and products and it has always taken great pride in being part of and supporting the local community.

On hearing of their nomination for what are known as the ‘Oscars’ of business excellence, Bridget Maher said: “We are thrilled to be nominated for such a prestigious award.
