New manager as Enterprise marks milestone

Fifteen years ago, entrepreneurs George O’Connor and Mike Hawkins set up a business in a Dublin apartment, renting replacement cars for insurance companies. Their company became Enterprise Rent a Car, part of the global Enterprise Rent-A-Car Group, and it now has 22 branches and 170 employees across Ireland.

Now, Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Kilkenny is celebrating the branch’s seventh birthday – and also the appointment of new branch manager Gary Killeen. The Galway native has just been appointed to the managerial position and heads up the Kilkenny branch. He joined Enterprise Rent-A-Car in 2010 from GMIT, as a trainee manager after finishing his degree in 2009. Since then he has worked in Kilkenny and in Kildare.

“I joined Enterprise Rent-A-Car as part of the GMIT work experience programme in 2005 and when I qualified with my degree in Business, I applied to Enterprise to get on their management training programme and I was delighted to be accepted,” Mr Breen said. “After two years of continuous training in all aspects of the rental car business, I am delighted to be appointed as the branch manager here in Kilkenny, where my Enterprise career began in 2009.”
