Some 20 have been shortlisted in the regional final and the judges’ favourites will progress to the national final, which will be held in Dublin on December 8. The competition is taking place in 11 locations across the country as part of Bank of Ireland’s National Enterprise Week from 16-23 November 16-23.

The contest is open to applicants between the ages of 12 and 18.

Some of the proposals include SavealifeIreland (SAL), an app that will show the location of the nearest defibrillator and instruct in emergency CPR; Dan and Mike’s Ice Cream and Sorbet, which uses surplus fruit from Dan’s fruit farm to add to flavour their home-made ice cream; Eire i mo chroi, a memory box packed with traditional Irish goodies for people who have emigrated; and Jewelry by Jaime C, hand-made individually designed jewellery pieces.

Applications are still open for adults for the next series of Dragons’ Den. Investment ideas can be submitted through www.bankofireland.com/dragons until December 3.
