Two Kilkenny companies have been shortlisted in this year’s Eircom Spider Awards.
Web company bid4lights.com is shortlisted in the ebusiness category and the website of Nicholas Mosse Pottery in the Retail Excellence category.
Bid4lights is “an online auction service that allows users to place bids on a wide variety of light fittings,” as the website explains. The duration of the auction ranges from anything from a few hours to a few weeks. Throughout the specified time period of the auction, bids are accumulated, and then at the end of the auction, the bidder with the highest bid is awarded the lot.
The new Nicholas Mosse Pottery website was launched in August, having been developed by Lucidity Digital in Dublin.
“Although we’ve had a website for many years, we realised that internet selling has really come of age in Ireland and that we needed to do a better job for our customers,” said Susan Mosse.
The site has the entire range of Nicholas Mosse Pottery products for sale, including over 60 shapes in nine patterns as well as the company’s textiles. A changing display of special offers is also a prime part of the site, as well as a wedding list. Nicholas Mosse Pottery was established in 1976 and now employs 65 people in both the pottery and retail shop located in the Old Mill in Bennettsbridge.
The Eircom Spider Awards ceremony will be held on November 1 in the Convention Centre in Dublin, with comedian Des Bishop as host. The full shortlist is at www.eircomspiders.ie.
