Kilkenny above average in housing construction

Kilkenny is outperforming the national average in terms of housing construction activity, according to the fourth National Housing Construction Index, complied and issued by Link2Plans (www.link2plans.com).

Kilkenny is outperforming the national average in terms of housing construction activity, according to the fourth National Housing Construction Index, complied and issued by Link2Plans (www.link2plans.com).

The team of researchers at www.link2plans.com examined every housing construction planning application and planning commencement from January to August 2012 in the production of the National Housing Construction Index. The index gives a direct comparison with the same period in 2011.

It shows that 218 planning applications were submitted in Kilkenny in the first eight months of this year, an 8% drop over the same period last year. Nationally the fall as 16%. Kilkenny saw a slight increase in the number of commencement notices issued, up from 115 to 116, compared with a national average decline of 10%.
