Kilkenny is a long way down the list of counties in terms of grant funding received from the National Lottery, new figures have shown.
The figures published today (Tuesday) by the Irish Independent show Kilkenny in 16th place overall for lotto grants, receiving just €8.09 per head of population. Sligo, the highest recipient county, received €23.35 for every person living there.
The funding is applicable to sports, youth, education, environment, health and Irish language projects.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s home county of Mayo has seen the biggest rise in funding since last year. Funding increased by 70% - making Mayo fourth in the ranking of total grants paid.
