Professor Garry Courtney, Consultant Physician and Clinical Director at St Luke’s General Hospital and Declan McCann, Friends of St Luke’s addressed the January meeting of the Board of Directors of Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce at the behest of Chamber President Donie Butler recently.

They gave a very thorough synopsis and presentation of what St Luke’s is about in terms of delivering the excellent health care facilities which it provides for both counties, Kilkenny & Carlow at its facilities at Freshford Road, Kilkenny.

Early indications are that the best future interests of patients in Counties Carlow and Kilkenny lie in an alignment between St Luke’s Hospital and a Dublin University and hospital group.

When the matter was discussed following the departure of Mr McCann and Professor Courtney, The Board of Directors of Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce & Industry Ltd. decided to unanimously endorse the strategy of the Carlow/Kilkenny/Dublin linkage in one hospital group.
