RTE Sports personality, Evanne Ní Chuilinn, was on hand to help Kilkenny’s local cycling club, Marble City Cyclers, launch their 3rd Tour de Kilkenny in aid of Barretstown, the therapeutic camp for children with childhood cancer.

Tour de Kilkenny this year will take place on 30 July, the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend and covers four cycling routes, 160km, 110km, 70km and 40km starting at Kilkenny Rugby Club on the Waterford Road. Speaking at the launch, Marble City Cyclers’ Patrick Tobin, a Glanbia employee, said he was delighted with the participation and feedback from last year’s event in which 425 cyclists took part and raised over €6,500 for Barretstown Camp, the Glanbia designated charity. All funds raised go directly to the charity and he hopes the event can raise even more money this year. In particular he wants to encourage as many people as possible from Kilkenny to participate and support this local event and points out that anyone who ran or walked the mini-marathon recently will have the fitness to complete the 40km route.

So get on your bike for this fun and healthy activity and enter online at www.marblecitycyclers.com - entry fee for all routes is just €22 online or €25 on the day and all funds raised go directly to the charity. Tour de Kilkenny is supported by Glanbia.
