The Citroen C4 Picasso was today crowned Continental Irish car of the year 2014.
The C4 Picasso won the award for the third time for the marque at the annual Irish Motoring Writers Association (IMWA) Car of the Year presentation in the Crowne Plaza hotel, Dublin.
The Citroen C4 Picasso received 377 votes from the IMWA jurors, beating the Volkswasgen Golf into second place with 364 votes. The Mazda6 finished third with 327 votes.
Citroens were previously honoured in 1998 (Xsara) and 2009 (C5).
The votes were awarded on the basis of key criteria including safety, equipment level, fuel economy, comfort, practicality, ride and road holding.
The trophy was presented to Frederic Soulier, managing director of Citroen Ireland, by Tom Dennigan of Continental Tyres Ireland.
Five other category winners were also honured - Peugeot 2008 (Continental Irish small Car of the Year ); Citroen C4 Picasso (Continental Irish compact family Car of the Year); Mazda6 (Continental Irish family Car of the Year); Range Rover (Continental Irish executive/luxury Car of the Year); Volkswagen Golf GTi (Continental Irish performance Car of the Year).
The Mercedes Benz Sprinter was voted Continental Irish Van of the Year.
