The Space Star is an all-new compact car from Mitsubishi Motors that sets the pace in terms of economy, efficiency and value for money.
Starting at €11,995, the Space Star is truly the small car with the small price.
Engineered from the ground up to maximise fuel economy and minimise C02 levels, it delivers over 70 miles per gallon with C02 emissions of 100 g/km and under, giving buyers an annual road tax of just €180 in Tax Band A2. And it comes with an unbeatable 8 year warranty as standard - the longest in the Irish market.
What is even more remarkable about the Space Star is that all this efficiency comes with so little sacrifice. Constructed of high-tensile steel the Space Star is light enough to be peppy and nimble (4.6m turning circle) yet roomy enough to be an ideal family car and comfortably seat five adults.
The Space Star will be available in a choice of two models, a 1.0L petrol Invite (11,995 euro), 71bhp, 92g/km, and a 1.2L (14,495 euro) 80bhp, 100g/km. Both have an annual tax of 180 euro.
The arrival of the Space Star follows the recent launch of the all-new Outlander SUV, and is part of a comprehensive product plan from Mitsubishi Motors which will see four all-new passenger car models launched over 15 months.
The Space Star range will be powered by two all-new high efficiency lightweight 3-cyclinder petrol engines with MIVEC variable valve timing.
The Invite model will be powered by a 71bhp 1.0L petrol engine which delivers 88Nm of torque, while the Intense model will be powered by a 80bhp 1.2L petrol engine delivering 106Nm of torque.
These ultra efficient petrol engines deliver very strong economy and performance figures. In addition, they return superb economy of 4.0L/100km for the 1.0L and 4.3L/100km for the 1.2L, which is up to 70mpg.
The Space Star is built around a high efficiency architecture which is lightweight yet extremely strong and safe, with a 5-star Euro Ncap rating being targeted. This will be achieved through a comprehensive package of features which are standard on all models.
This includes front, side and curtain airbags, Active Stability and Traction Control, ABS with EBD and Emergency Stop Signal System. This is all housed within Mitsubishi’s patented RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) active structure, which is designed to absorb and disperse an impact from all directions.
In addition, for the Space Star, Mitsubishi Motors has added a “multi-load pass frame” front cross member, designed to contribute to better energy management in case of a front end crash.
The Space Star comes in a choice of two models, both of which house a high level of equipment as standard - air donditioning, Bluetooth (1.2L Intense), electric front windows, central locking with keyless entry, multi-information display unit, alloy wheels (1.2L Intense), daytime tunning lights, electric door mirrors, front fog lights (1.2L Intense) and rear spoiler.
Safety and security features include ABS with EBD, front, side and curtain airbags, active stability and traction control, emergency stop signal system, electronic immobiliser, 60/40 split rear seats, radio CD with 4 speakers, AUX plug and USB port, height adjustable driver’s seat.
Mitsubishi cars already enjoy a strong reputation for reliability and value for money, supported by a 3 year manufacturer warranty. Now, to give customers the same confidence in their purchase that Mitsubishi Motors in Ireland already has, Mitsubishi Motors dealers, in conjunction with Mitsubishi Motors Ireland, are now offering an extended warranty resulting in cover of 8 years or 150,000km (whichever comes first) as standard on all passenger cars, which is fully transferable to a new owner at any point during the cover period.
