FORMER Kilkenny ace attacker, Charlie Carter, will guide the fortunes of St Martin’s (Ballyfoyle/Coon/Muckalee) in the senior grade this season.

The Young Irelands (Gowran) clubman has been appointed manager with the North Kilkenny club. He takes over from local man, Sean O’Neill, who stood down after serving a two year term.

Mr Carter will be joined on the senior hurling team Selection Committee by Richie McCarthy, a former Bennettsbridge player, and Aidan Lawlor, who served Martin’s with distinction for years.

The former Kilkenny star cut his teeth in management with Lisdowney, where he served a couple of seasons and had the team playing a refreshing style of open, fast hurling.

Meanwhile, Eamon Sweeney has been reappointed manager with the Fenians (Johnstown). He guided the club last season when they did reasonably well after receiving a thrashing in their opening game.
