Kilkenny’s preparations for the new hurling seasons are coming along nicely, and virtually all the long servers who have been part of the squad for a few years are back in the fold.
Michael Fennelly, who is working on a project at Sydney Swans in Australia as part of his studies at UL, won’t return until early February but he will rejoin the panel when he gets back. His club championship season was destroyed by an ankle injury, but he is reported to be making steady progress and all going well he will be able to resume his career in late February or so.
The Cats open the new season in the Walsh Cup on Sunday week against the winners of the Westmeath/DIT tie. Their opening match in the Allianz National Hurling League will be away to All-Ireland champions, Clare.
