Former hurler of the year, Eoin Larkin has been nominated by his club, James Stephens as the Kilkenny captain for the season 2012.
The 27-year-old has been in blinding form of late, scoring a massive 2-27 in the last three games as he inspired ‘Stephens to a surprise but stunning victory over favourites Ballyhale ShamRocks in the replayed Kilkenny final.
Larkin was the unanimous choice of the club. His selection came as no real surprise because his club colleague, Jackie Tyrrell, captained the county in 2006, the start of the All-Ireland four in-a-row.
Army man Larkin has been on a great scoring run of late - 1-10 in the semi-final win over St Martin’s (Muckalee) was followed by 0-6 in the drawn final which was followed by 1-11 in the replay on Sunday.
Larkin has won five senior All-Irelands, seven Leinster championships and three National Leagues. He was Hurler of the Year in 2008.
