A DOUBLE-HEADER with Offaly is on the cards as the Kilkenny under-14 and under-16 teams chase Leinster glory this week.
The county will be hoping for success on two counts when they play their matches in Laois tomorrow (Thursday). The under-14s beat Longford in round one, but were unlucky to lose by a point to Westmeath in their second outing. Offaly will provide tough opposition at both grades having been victorious in their first two outings.
The under-14 match throws in at 3pm, with the under-16 clash beginning at 4.30pm.
The first girls’ under-12 football blitz of the year will be held in Thomastown on Saturday, April 14.
The blitz will be played in seven-a-side format, while panels can consist of 12 players. Teams who wish to play can register at 10am on the day, with games beginning at 10.30am.
The blitz will be followed by the meeting of Kilkenny and Louth in the Leinster under-14 girls’ football championship.
The ladies football adult league will begin on April 20.
Clubs will receive dates in the coming week and must notify the county secretary if dates are changed by mutual agreement.
Thomastown are current league champions and will be keen to repeat the performance of last year when they claimed their first senior league and championship.
