Glanbia say yes to three more years with hurlers

Glanbia today confirmed a new three year sponsorship deal with the Kilkenny hurlers to run until 2015. As in the past, the sponsorship will include the senior, intermediate, under-21 and minor county teams, the news conference in Nowlan Park was told.

“Glanbia are delighted to announce a continuation of our sponsorship with the Kilkenny hurlers who have been such outstanding ambassadors, not alone for hurling but sport in general,” said Brian Phelan, Glanbia Executive Director.

“This sponsorship is an ideal fit for a good nutrition company like Glanbia and particularly Ireland’s No. 1 consumer brand Avonmore. We have had a truly fantastic and successful relationship with Kilkenny, who have won an incrediible nine senior All-Ireland titles in the past 14 years, making them the great county of all time”.

He thanked County Board chairman, Ned Quinn, Kilkenny manager Brian Cody and all the County Board officers and the players for their help and support over the years.

“With the costs now involved in running county teams it would be impossible for Kilkenny to prepare teams without the continued support and generous sponsorhip of Glanbia,” Mr Quinn said. “We have an excellent working relationship with them and I am delighted to have them on board again for a new three year team.

“I would like to take this opportunity to tahnk Glanbia for supporting our upcoming Hurlers Race Day in Gowran Par on Saturday, March 23 and for sponsoring the Glanbia Jackie Tyrrell bumper race.”

Brian Cody said the players and management very much appreciate the generous sponsorship and support of Glanbia.

“I also want to thank Glanbia for providing our players with a range of nutritional dairy products over the season which plays an important part in our hurlers diet,” he added. “The team will do all in our power to reward them.”

The attendance also included county hurler, Jackie Tyrrell, who is a Glanbia employee, Tommy Walsh, David Herity, Jimmy Walsh (Co. Board secretary), Barry Hickey (County Board treasurer), Seamus Reade (PRO), Denis ‘Rackard’ Cody (Kilkenny kit man) and Kieran O’Connor, sponsorship Co-Ordinator.
