Hogan got to the end of a right wing cross from Conor Phelan to touch the ball home from the edge of the square at the canal End. The winners lead jumped up to 1-11 to 0-4. At one stage they streaked 15 points clear, and St Gabriel’s were left with nothing but pride to salvage.
It was a good day for star attacker, Keith Hogan, who helped himself to 1-9.
“The big challenge now is to keep the good run going in the Kilkenny leagaue,” said team captain, David Langton afterwards. “It has been a great championship for us and everyone in the parish, but we have to drive on from here.”
