TWO stunning displays in both the drawn and replayed All-Ireland final which concluded with victory for Kilkenny earned Henry Shefflin the GAA/GPA player of the Month award for September.
Chosen by fellow players, King Henry’s record ninth All-Ireland medal on the field of play was recognised by his fellow hurlers and he is certainly the favourite for the outright Hurler of the Year award.
The football winner for the month was Donegal captain Michael Murphy, who scored a superb goal in the final.
Commenting on the announcement, Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Liam Ó Néill said: “Both Henry and Michael served up performances to savour with Kilkenny and Donegal respectively playing crucial roles in those counties’ performances against Galway (Hurling) and Mayo (Football).
