The Leinster colleges senior hurling Roinn A final could yet end up as an all Kilkenny affair.
St Kieran’s College booked their place in the decider in two weeks time with a hard earned 1-8 to 0-6 win over Castlecomer Community School at the weekend. And this weekend holders, Kilkenny CBS face up to Good Counsel (New Ross) in the second semi.

Kieran’s got through thanks to points in the 60th and 62nd minutes from Liam Blanchfield and James Maher in the semi-final in Freshford on Saturday.
Ten minutes from the end hard going Castlecomer got close to the winners when Conor Delaney blasted over a 65 to leave them a mere 0-6 to 1-5 behind. The place in the Leinster final against either Kilkenny CBS or Good Counsel was there for the taking.
However, St Kieran’s held their nerve and produced big at the finish. A well taken point by team captain, Eoin Gough got things back on course (1-6 to 0-6), and although both sides missed chances afterwards, Kieran’s added two late, late scores to book a place in the provincial final.
The hurling was hard and close throughout, but both sides were guilty of some poor finishing. However, no effort was spared.
The losers opened with two early points from Shane Kinsella. After Kieran’s opened their account with a goal form Vincent Teehan in the eight minute they led all the way home. At half-time the winners led by 1-3 to 0-2.
Castlecomer had the arrears down to a pair of points twice during the closing half, the last time in the 50th minute. However, they couldn’t find the big punch and goal that might have upended might Kieran’s.
