Kilkenny hurling manager, Brian Cody, hadn’t even lifted a hand after returning to the job for a 17th consecutive year, when the speculation about his future commenced.

Paddy Power bookmakers have started taking bets on when Brian Cody will retire after the 10 times All-Ireland winning manager was ratified as boss at last night’s County Board meeting.

Unfortunately for the long suffering fans of other counties, its 9/4 for the James Stephens clubman to leave before the end of 2016.

From there the odds begin to shorten with 13/8 available on him leaving the Cats helm between 2017 and 2019, while its 5/4 for him to stick around until 2020 and beyond.

When will Brian Cody retire? The betting - 9/4 before the end of 2016; 13/8 2017 to 2019; 5/4 2020 or longer.
